Lavrov commented on Pashinyan’s request to sell the concession for railways to Armenia

The request by Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian Prime Minister, to sell a concession for railways to Armenia is surprising and evokes “emotions in the chest,” Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, said in an interview with the RBC TV channel.

The minister noted that regular contacts are held between the deputy prime ministers of Russia and Armenia, and any issues of interest to the Armenian side can be discussed, including the situation with the South Caucasus Railway, which is under concession by Russian Railways.

“We are surprised to hear these questions… If they have already arisen, tell your partner how you are reasoning in this regard. Instead, a public statement is made saying that this is “their” issue and that we owe them 2 billion,” Lavrov said.

“I understand that this evokes emotions in our citizens, in addition to assessments based on economic analysis. I am no exception,” he added.
