Dr. Luis Moreno Ocampo, the first prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, released his book ‘War or Justice: Towards the End of Impunity’, with a chapter on Azerbaijan’s genocide against the Armenian population of Artsakh.
The fifth chapter of Moreno Ocampo’s book is entirely devoted to the Artsakh conflict and the author’s participation in the historical 2023 report, in which he warned that the blockade perpetrated by Azerbaijan is an act of genocide.
“The International Criminal Court has set itself the task of replacing war with justice. Analyzing the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Ukraine, Armenia, Israel and Palestine, the book notes that the legal architecture is almost invisible, it has no color or passions, but it is a matter of life and death,” the annotation of the book reads.
Luis Moreno Ocampo taught at Harvard and Yale Universities for eight years and also gave lectures at the Hebrew University. In 2022, he published an article ‘War and Justice in the 21st Century’ (Oxford University Press), explaining his decisions as prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Since 2020, he has been a visiting professor at the University of Southern California (USC), where he analyzes how films define narratives about crime, war and justice. Since 2023, he has been directing a project on Innovation on Global Order of the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
