Luis Moreno Ocampo: The blockade of the Lachin corridor creates conditions for genocide

“There is a reasonable basis to believe that a Genocide is being committed against Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023,” the former Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, said at hearings in the US Congress.

“This is an ongoing genocide. Normally, people believe that the genocide requires many deaths of people. There are different forms to commit genocide. One form requires zero victims. In other words, it creates conditions to destroy the people. And blocking the Lachin corridor with the life system for Nagorno-Karabakh people is exactly this type of conditions.

Ocampo has also noted that at this stage there is no doubt that there are intentions to commit genocide, stressing that one genocide has already been committed, while the second one must be prevented.
