Matviyenko lays flowers at Eternal Flame in Victory Park and Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in Yerevan

Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in Victory Park, Yerevan.

Other members of the Russian delegation also visited the memorial, the press office of the Federation Council reports.

Following their visit to Victory Park, the Russian delegation, accompanied by the Speaker of the Federation Council, proceeded to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, which honors the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Matviyenko is also scheduled to meet with the authorities of the country, in particular, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan. They will open the 39th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of Armenia. The session will focus on the theme “80th anniversary of the Great Victory: unity in the defense of historical memory for future generations”.
