Migrants in Russia may be required to buy a phone immediately upon arrival

According to Igor Zubov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, speaking at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, the device would contain an electronic profile, and police would be able to track the owner’s location.

The phone would also be used for notifications, for example, about the expiration of documents or the need to appear before certain authorities.
