Montevideo Departmental Council condemns genocide being committed by Azerbaijan through famine

On September 7, the Departmental Council of Montevideo unanimously voted for a statement condemning the military aggression and illegal blockade of Azerbaijan against the civilian population and military personnel of the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of territorial expansion.

“Since the end of 2022, Azerbaijan has blocked the Lachin corridor, which connects the Republic of Artsakh with Armenia, and has isolated more than 120,000 people. As a result, the population of Artsakh is experiencing a severe, large-scale humanitarian crisis, which leads to an almost absolute lack of basic necessities for survival, such as food and medical supplies,” the statement said.

The Departmental Council strictly condemned the genocide being committed through famine.
