Moscow is ready to engage in a constructive dialogue with Yerevan on phytosanitary control: Overchuk

Russia is ready to engage in a constructive dialogue with Armenia on phytosanitary control. This was stated by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, TASS reports.

“The point is not whether [Armenia] will come to their senses or not, but that the phytosanitary control requirements must be met. And, naturally, we are ready for such a constructive dialogue.” “But, unfortunately, we see that there are certain problems on the Armenian side, and, accordingly, such a dialogue is taking place,” he said.

Overchuk recalled that recently, at a meeting with the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Oksana Lut, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighted these problems with vegetables and fruits from Armenia. “It’s not that they’re of poor quality, but there are pests, there are diseases,” the deputy prime minister clarified.
