Nare Simonyan: Road to Artsakh passes through Republic Square
Students demanded that the Armenian authorities protect the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, Nare Simonyan, co-founder of the Armenian Center for Political Rights, said in an interview with Alpha News.
“There are people in Armenia who are now in prison. These are students who took to the streets to demand that the Armenian authorities stand up for their relatives, citizens of Armenia, and protect them from genocide.
Another part of the people is trying to solve social and everyday problems of their families, such as renting a house, working, and all the passport chaos that was caused after the illegal deprivation of Artsakh Armenians’ citizenship,” Simonyan said.
Nare Simonyan emphasized that the authorities are illegally trying to deprive Artsakh people of their citizenship․
“There are queues at passport offices. People have not received their pensions for months. There are people for whom pensions are the only source of income. Such a chaotic situation has been created so that as many Artsakh residents as possible are constantly busy with everyday and social problems,” Simonyan said.
According to her, the road to Artsakh passes through Republic Square in Yerevan․
“There is also another group of people who are either waiting for the next stage of the struggle or are trying to get their thoughts together, get to know each other, and understand what they can do to return to Artsakh. The road to Artsakh passes through Republic Square in Yerevan, and the biggest obstacle to returning to Artsakh is in Republic Square. People are preparing for this struggle,” Simonyan concluded.
