One of Germany’s fears is refugees from Karabakh, says German political scientist
Speaking with Alpha News, German political scientist Vladimir Sergienko commented on Germany’s position on Armenia.
According to the expert, Germany, as always, will offer financial assistance in the amount that will hide their fears.
“There are forces that are interested in creating a hostile wedge between Russia and China, starting with Armenia, ending with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia. Armenia has become like the countries that pursue their policies, like Ukraine after the Maidan. Today, Germany, as always, will offer financial assistance in the amount that will hide their fears. One of these fears is refugees. If the refugees of Nagorno-Karabakh end up on the territory of the European Union, they cannot be deported to Armenia. This is a problem for the European Union and, therefore, a problem for Germany. Germany does not need 100,000 extra refugees for sure, so it needs to negotiate with Armenia,” the expert said.
“In all this, I also see a typical German policy, which is now anti-Russian. Under the pretext of talks about refugees, Armenia will be offered a number of other things. For example, the question will arise at what pace the NATO base should be deployed, at what pace military exercises should be conducted. Unfortunately, Armenia has chosen a vector of dismantling Russian-Armenian relations,” Sergienko concluded.
