Armenia’s accession to the European Union is a matter for Yerevan to decide and is its sovereign right, said Alexey Overchuk, Russia’s deputy prime minister.

“The question of Armenia’s accession to the EU is Armenia’s business. Whatever they decide, that’s how it will be. This is their sovereign right, and our right is to decide matters concerning the preferences that Armenia will lose in the event of rapprochement with the EU,” Overchuk said, responding to a question from RIA Novosti.

The Eastern Economic Forum is taking place in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4.
