Parallels of the Ancient World: Armenia – The Netherlands
June 02 2025, 18:50
From June 2 to August 30, 2025, the Museum of History of Armenia will host the exhibition “Parallels of the Ancient World: Armenia – The Netherlands”. The exhibition will feature 15 original artifacts from the Drents Museum in Assen, paired with similar pieces from the collection of the Museum of Armenian History.
“Back in 2022, after the exhibition ‘Under the Spell of Ararat’ organized at the Drents Museum in the Netherlands, an agreement was reached to hold a reciprocal exhibition in Armenia,” said David Poghosyan, director of the Armenian History Museum.
The joint exhibition will reveal the rich history and culture of Northern Europe from the Neolithic, Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age, giving visitors the opportunity to draw interesting parallels. The collections will be complemented by visuals and animations. The exhibition will conclude with a presentation of Armenian-Dutch ties: references to Armenians in the Netherlands since the 4th century, an Armenian printing house founded in Amsterdam in the 18th century, and trade relations.
