Parliament rejects military service exemption bill

The National Assembly of Armenia has rejected the initiative put forward by Civil Contract Party MP Hayk Sargsyan to amend the Law on Military Service.

The draft was not included in the plenary session agenda, with only one member voting in favor, 87 voting against, and no abstentions. The sole supporter of the initiative was Parliament Vice-Speaker Hakob Arshakyan.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs had issued a negative opinion on the bill.
