Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, has expressed dissatisfaction with the high percentage of votes received by the Civil Contract party in several communities across Armenia in the local government elections.
“I want to state honestly and directly that, as a person who became Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia as a result of the 2018 nonviolent people’s Velvet Revolution, I am not at all happy that we, the Civil Contract party, received 90+, 80+, 70+ percent of the vote in several communities,” he said during a Facebook live stream.
According to Pashinyan, the election results, though seemingly pleasing at first glance, evoke certain associations.
“However pleasing it may seem at first glance, these percentages evoke certain associations. At the same time, they also bring the issue of the opposition in Armenia to the fore. We must assess this situation correctly,” he said.
