On the eve of the parliamentary elections, the RA authorities are attempting to intimidate the opposition and those who support it through arrests and criminal cases. This is what Tigran Kocharyan, editor-in-chief of the news agency, said live on Alpha News.

“They are trying to disrupt the work of campaign headquarters, since it is now critically important for them to detain or arrest people as quickly as possible. And a few months later it will turn out that these people did nothing particularly wrong. The authorities are simply trying to exert pressure on the population this way. And, by the way, they don’t care whether they are detaining an ordinary activist or, for example, placing Samvel Karapetyan under house arrest, depriving him of the ability to participate normally in the election campaign,” Kocharyan noted.

According to him, the election campaign is being conducted with such flagrant violations that it can be said to be illegitimate.

Speaking about the authorities’ openly pro-Turkish course for the sake of re-election, Kocharyan responded: “The authorities are pursuing a pro-Turkish policy. People in Georgia were deceived in exactly the same way once. They were told they were heading toward Europe, and they ended up in Turkey. Mikheil Saakashvili was Georgia’s most pro-Turkish figure, the man, who divided the Georgian economy between Turkey and Azerbaijan. In this regard, it can be said with confidence that Nikol Pashinyan is the same as Saakashvili; he is doing the same things.”
