Pashinyan wants to show that he is a tolerant European – Vladislav Shurygin
Speaking with Alpha News, military expert Vladislav Shurygin commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Estonia. In his opinion, Pashinyan is trying to please the European bureaucracy and at the same time maintain his position in Russia.
“Pashinyan is trying to sit on seven chairs at once. That is, he is trying to simultaneously play at Armenia’s absolute independence and build what he perceives as equal relations with Europe. He is trying to please the European bureaucracy, which is somewhat imbued with Russophobia, and at the same time maintain traditional ties with Russia, the CIS and, accordingly, preserve those benefits that Armenia enjoyed before. This is just such a trick, obvious to everyone,” Shurygin said.
According to the military expert, Pashinyan wants to show that he fully shares modern European values.
“Pashinyan wants to show that he is a tolerant European who fully shares modern European values. Consequently, for Estonia, which sacredly preserves its traditions of loyalty to the Nazis, he appears to demonstrate an understanding of these values and even a willingness to share them,” Shurygin concluded.
