Pashinyan will bring into government those people who are on his side, says political scientist
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Boris Shmelev commented on the dismissal of a number of high-ranking Armenian officials.
“I believe such changes in the government usually happen when a change in the domestic or foreign policy is expected. Accordingly, those people who do not support this policy must leave, or they do not cope well with their duties, and new people must take their place. I think this is precisely what Pashinyan’s decision to renew the cabinet of ministers and bring new people is connected with. The first is connected with the fact that the economic situation in Armenia is difficult, and some new approaches, new solutions are needed to improve the situation, and the second is that it is necessary to find a solution in relations with Azerbaijan, sign a peace agreement, and join regional and maybe even global economic trends,” Shmelev said.
Pashinyan will bring into the government those people who support him and are on his side, the expert noted.
“Armenia has ultimately reached a dead end in implementing its national idea. Life has shown that this is unrealistic and a U-turn is needed. A U-turn in the other direction is needed to lead Armenia out of the dead end and to give it a new impetus for development. So, it seems to me that Pashinyan will probably bring into the government those people who support him, who are on his side in the policy that he can rely on. This is a common political practice,” Shmelev concluded.
