Pashinyan’s attitude towards church could lead to clashes — Ara Zohrabyan
Speaking with Alpha News, lawyer Ara Zohrabyan stated that since 2018, Nikol Pashinyan has not only crossed moral boundaries but has also violated legal norms.
“If you remember, under the slogans of ‘love and solidarity,’ Pashinyan called for a blockade of courts, which is a violation of both the Constitution and the law. The blockade happened, he himself evaded responsibility, and no criminal prosecution followed,” Zohrabyan noted.
According to him, Pashinyan is now diverting society’s attention with an artificial agenda, which, however, has far-reaching goals.
“He has crossed not only moral but also legal boundaries. Holding a government position, he had no right to make such audacious statements. He understands perfectly well that this could lead to clashes,” the lawyer emphasized.
Zohrabyan believes that people may appear who, at Pashinyan’s instigation, will try to put pressure on the Patriarchate.
“Pashinyan’s main target is the church’s self-government system. We know very well that the church has preserved our identity for centuries without state support, and it is thanks to self-government that it has survived to this day. When Pashinyan talks about changing the Catholicos, this is direct disrespect for the church’s autonomy and illegal behavior that can lead to serious consequences, including clashes. He clearly understands that the church is the ‘red line’ that can motivate many to take action. No rational person would start a war against the church in such unstable times, but he seems to be intentionally pursuing this course,” the lawyer added.
