Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Dmitry Rodionov commented on the announcement that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not attend Vladimir Putin’s inauguration.

According to the expert, Pashinyan’s refusal to come to Putin’s inauguration is disrespectful to the Russian authorities.

“Pashinyan’s refusal to come to the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin is a demonstrative demarche. This is a sign of disrespect for the Russian authorities. However, Pashinyan seems to be planning to come to the event of the Eurasian Economic Union. This is also being done pointedly to maintain a certain parity in relation to other EAEU states, so as not to offend everyone but only to offend Moscow. The most cynical thing is, however, the refusal to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, because with such a gesture, he personally insults the memory of the Great Patriotic War, a common victory for all the peoples of the former USSR. This is especially cynical, given the fact that this is happening at the request of the West,” Rodionov said.

According to the political scientist, this will have a negative impact on future relations between Armenia and Russia.

“We need to set priorities and determine whether Armenia is a sovereign country that decides for itself where to go and what events to participate in, or whether Armenia is a vassal of the West, which is waiting for the West to issue permission to attend the event, for the record, of the closest ally with which Armenia has a common history and many integration projects. This is all very disgusting.

This will have a negative impact on future relations between Armenia and Russia. This will not be the last straw, which will lead to some unimaginable consequences, but still, this will be another brick in the wall between our countries, which the West is building with the hands of Pashinyan,” Rodionov concluded.
