Photo of hero Albert Hovhannisyan removed from Yerevan’s Victory Park

A photograph of Albert Hovhannisyan, a hero of Artsakh who was killed in the 44-day war, has disappeared from Yerevan’s Victory Park. It had been located on the wall of the right wing near the park’s main entrance.

Over time, the spot had become a memorial site: park visitors would come to the photograph and lay flowers in memory of the fallen artilleryman.

On September 22, several young people who came to lay flowers discovered that the photograph was no longer in its usual place. According to available information, it was still on the wall as of September 20, so it is believed to have been removed on September 21.

Who removed the photograph of Albert Hovhannisyan, and for what reason, remains unknown at this time.
