Political analyst Alen Ghevondyan charged with incitement to seize power

The press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced that a criminal case has been opened against Alen Ghevondyan, political analyst, on charges of publicly inciting the seizure of power.

According to the agency, two proceedings have been initiated, under which T.V. and A.G. are being criminally prosecuted under Part 2 of Article 422 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, pertaining to calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order using information and communication technologies.

T.V. has been remanded in custody and declared wanted. A.G. has been detained pending a court motion to determine a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
