As part of The People Speak project, Alpha News conducted surveys in Yerevan and Armenian-populated communities in the US and Russia to find out citizens’ opinions around the key topics of the recent period.
Commenting on Armenian-Turkish relations, respondents noted, “Throughout history, Turkey has never been and cannot be our friend.”
“How can one sit at the table with an enemy and share bread with them, how can one trust them? I don’t understand, is Pashinyan even Armenian or not? How can an Armenian man make such statements?” a respondent said.
Citizens spoke out against European integration, emphasizing that Armenia’s primary labor force resides in Russia.
One participant cited Georgia as an example: “Georgia followed Turkey—and what happened? We only need to go to Russia.”
According to another respondent, Europe uses Armenia and its geopolitical position to serve its own interests.
