‘The People Speak’: New Alpha News Project

As part of its new project “The People Speak,” Alpha News conducted surveys in Yerevan and Armenian-populated communities in the United States and Russia, aiming to gather citizens’ opinions on the most important topics of recent years.
The Armenian authorities question the Armenian Genocide, while our respondents harshly criticize such an approach and clearly note that it is impossible to be friends with Turks.
Another key topic explored is Armenia’s European integration.
“It will be difficult to cut Armenia off from its only market, Russia. Our goods do not meet the standards of the European market either,” a citizen says.
Our respondents dream that the people of Artsakh will be able to return to their homes.
“I would really like to see an agreement reached without wars and without bloodshed,” said one participant.
Citizens note that the leaders of Armenia must be patriotic, democratic and people-loving, and think about the Armenian army.
“The leader of Armenia must first of all be someone who loves the homeland, cares for its soldiers and knows how to fight. Not someone like this—he has no education, has never even picked up a weapon, yet rules an entire state,” one respondent noted.
