Suspect detained over arson attack on Yerevan City Council member’s wife’s car – Interior Ministry

Interior Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan announced on his Facebook that one person has been detained in connection with the arson attack on the car belonging to the wife of Gevorg Stepanyan, a member of the Mother Armenia faction of the Yerevan City Council.

Reports of a car belonging to the wife of a Yerevan City Council member being set on fire on Mkrtich Sedrakyan Street came at 04:22 a.m. on May 6. Materials related to the case of intentional property damage were handed over to the Investigative Committee, which subsequently initiated a criminal investigation.

“As a result of the large-scale operational and investigative actions carried out by the criminal police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a suspect was detained on May 7. The individual was taken to the investigative body. The investigation continues,” he noted.
