Public Broadcaster’s Council to look into circumstances of Tata Simonyan concert broadcast on Sept. 27

The Council of the Public Broadcaster has issued a statement regarding the airing of Tata Simonyan’s concert on Sept. 27 on the First Channel of Public Television.

“On Sept. 27, the sixth anniversary of the start of the 44-day war, Public Television aired a video recording of Tata Simonyan’s concert. This drew a strong public reaction and was met with fully justified discontent, criticism and outrage.

The next day, the public broadcaster issued a public statement, acknowledging its mistake and apologizing to the public.

The Council of the Public Broadcaster will look into the circumstances of what happened and, within its powers, will take appropriate measures against those responsible, in order to prevent any future lack of accountability on topics that are extremely sensitive for the public,” the statement said.
