On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his congratulations to the leaders and citizens of a number of countries, including Armenia, the Kremlin press office reports.

The President stressed that the countries deeply honor the memory of the heroic feats and great sacrifices of their forebears, who courageously fought against the Nazi invaders and selflessly contributed on the home front.

“Our sacred duty is to cherish the precepts of the victorious generation. Therefore, it is very important to resolutely oppose any attempts to distort our shared history, whitewash or forget the atrocities committed by the Nazis and their accomplices,” he said.

The President of Russia extended warm congratulations and sincere gratitude to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers, wishing them good health, prosperity, and many years of life.
