Reform may be an internal necessity of the Church, but it cannot become a program of state governance. This was stated by the Romanian Diocese of the AAC.

“The words of our Lord, ‘Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s’ (Gospel of Matthew 22:21), which have guided the Church of Christ for centuries, retain their full meaning today.

These words are not a call against the state.

They remind us of the simple and fundamental truth that every authority has its limits, every structure has its jurisdiction, and the life of the Church must be guided by its faith, its rules and its centuries-old canonical order,” the statement said.
