Runner Yervand Mkrtchyan wins 2025 Balkan Championship

Armenia’s Yervand Mkrtchyan won the men’s 1500 short track tournament at the 2025 Balkan Winter Open Championship in Belgrade, Serbia.

Armenia’s another representative, triple jumper Gor Hovakimyan became the silver medalist of the championship. This is Hovakimyan’s first medal at the Balkan Championships.

Razmik Ghazaryan (triple jump), runners Samvel Gevorgyan (60m), Milena Grigoryan (400m), Yana Sargsyan (long jump, triple jump) and Izabela Arakelyan (long jump) also took part in the championship.

After the competition, the Armenian national team will hold a two-week training camp to prepare for the European Indoor Championships to be held March 6-9 in the Netherlands.
