Russia retains the lead in tourist arrivals to Armenia in 2026

According to data through May, Russia has maintained its top position in tourist arrivals to Armenia. In the first four months of the year, 245,178 Russian citizens visited Armenia, accounting for 36% of the total number of tourists.

A total of 625,843 travelers visited the country during this period, 119,000 more than in the same period of 2025. The top three also include Georgia with 93,123 tourists (14%) and Iran with 48,450 (7%).
Ukraine (9,229 visitors, 1.35%) and Germany (9,012 visitors, 1.31%) also made the top five.

The majority of tourists (57%) arrived by air through Zvartnots International Airport. Among land border crossings, the highest passenger flow was recorded at the Bagratashen checkpoint (16%), and the lowest at the Ayrum checkpoint (1%).

The most active visitor demographic is people aged 35–44. The smallest shares belong to teenagers aged 13–17 and citizens over 65.
