Russian industrial and infrastructure enterprises in Armenia could become new targets of Yerevan’s “raider seizures,” said Alexey Shevtsov, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council.
The day before, Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, noted that an unfriendly line and outright “double standards” are being applied toward Russian businesses operating in Armenia, and that what is happening to enterprises and entire industries in which Russia has invested billions is hard to describe as anything other than a “raider seizure.”
“The next targets (of the ‘raider seizures’ — ed.) could be Russian industrial and infrastructure enterprises in Armenia,” Shevtsov told journalists.
According to him, narratives are being pushed about the underfunding of these enterprises, their negative impact on the investment climate, environmental damage from their operations, and low employee wages. “This is being done in order to devalue Russian assets and force their owners to get rid of them,” Shevtsov explained.
