Samvel Karapetyan’s freedom is a matter of honor for each of us – Viktor Soghomonyan

Viktor Soghomonyan, founder of Alpha Media House, Doctor of Political Sciences, and Professor at MGIMO, issued a statement in which he noted that it is unknown how the fate of Kirk Kerkorian or Charles Aznavour might have unfolded had they been alive and dared to defend the Catholicos of All Armenians against the harsh attacks by the authorities.

“Samvel Karapetyan is, without any exaggeration, one of the most renowned and influential Armenians of our time. It is hard to imagine a more appalling urbi et orbi message about the level of modern Armenian statehood than the arrest of a famous philanthropist and prominent businessman because of ‘wrong’ words during a single interview.

When it comes to fabricated cases and propaganda campaigns to discredit our national institutions and esteemed individuals who have fulfilled historic missions, Pashinyan has not left any untraveled lines—true to the principle of “shame till the end”. Who knows what would have happened to Kirk Kerkorian or Charles Aznavour if they had been alive and dared to defend the Catholicos of All Armenians against the harsh attacks by the authorities?
