The Main Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has completed the preliminary investigation into a criminal case concerning abuse of official authority by Seyran Ohanyan, former Defense Minister of the Republic of Armenia, in connection with the allocation of apartments.

During the preliminary investigation, clear factual evidence was obtained showing that S.O., while serving as Defense Minister of the Republic of Armenia, exceeded his official authority with the assistance of members of the Defense Ministry’s central housing commission, causing significant damage to the rights and legitimate interests of a number of individuals.

By decision of the supervising prosecutor, a criminal case has been opened against S.O. under Part 1 of Article 441 of the Criminal Code (abuse by an official of power or official authority, or influence derived therefrom, or exceeding one’s authority).

The criminal case, along with the indictment, has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request for its approval and referral to court for consideration.
