The situation in Syria is complicated, Harut Sassounian, editor and publisher of the California Courier newspaper, told Alpha News.
“The situation in Syria is complicated. Turkey-backed terrorists who have been fighting Assad for years have finally seized the opportunity and attacked. They entered Aleppo, which is a very large city where tens of thousands of Armenians live, but now there are very few Armenians left there, about 10-12 thousand. But the terrorists have a surprisingly clever or cunning approach to citizens, especially Armenians and Christians,” he said.
Sassounian said the terrorists approached Armenians and offered baklava and bread for free.
“They approach the Armenian community and say that they are not going to do anything to them, and they can continue to live as they have been living. They even come to Armenian-populated regions and give out free bread. Something even more surprising happened three days ago: they came to Armenian regions and gave out baklava to people,” Harut Sassounian said.
