The Armenian people will suffer for Pashinyan’s actions: Alexey Leonkov

Military analyst Alexey Leonkov commented on the Russian-Armenian relations to Alpha News.

“I think that the statements of (Nikol – ed.) Pashinyan’s (the Prime Minister of Armenia – ed.) statements only lead to a deterioration of Russian-Armenian relations. He consistently takes steps, not as big as, for example, Ukraine did when it broke off all relations with us, but gradually, at the same time, he comes up with various formulations that would put him in a better light, that he is a victim, a victim of relations with Russia, but in fact they still understand that this is not, that’s it. His political independence, which he demonstrates to the whole world, shows exactly the opposite. Everyone sees that he is dependent on those who once brought him to power – from Europe and the United States of America, so it is expected, on the one hand, that relations will deteriorate, but Russia, too, as they say, will not remain in debt,” Leonkov believes.

According to the expert, Western aid to Pashinyan is limited and was temporary.

“Pashinyan, he overestimated his capabilities a little. Yes, Europe, maybe the United States helped him win these elections, that is, to stretch the voting figures to such values that he could form the government apparatus and a majority in parliament, but that’s where the European help ended, because Europe has its mouth full of worries, but Pashinyan is not discouraged, he believes that these difficult times will pass, and he will sit through all these difficulties that arise due to the breakdown of relations with Russia. But I think he’s probably wrong. Russia still has the tools that it has begun to put into action, but unfortunately, as a result of these actions by Pashinyan, the Armenian people will mostly suffer,” Leonkov concluded.
