Charity cannot replace sound economic policy, job creation, and effective governance, but it can support thousands of people, develop culture, education, and sports, save lives, and strengthen the unity of the Armenian world. This is stated in a message from Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party, from a penitentiary facility.

“I have always considered it a mistake that help for Armenia should come only from the Diaspora. That is precisely why I myself became the Armenian philanthropist who extended a hand to our compatriots in Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and other countries. Charity shapes a society where people respect one another and are ready to help. There is no such thing as solitary happiness. One cannot live only for one’s own benefit and remain indifferent to the problems of the country and its people. The word ‘charity’ means a good deed, and every good deed begins with a good intention on behalf of the country and the future of its people. Encouraging such intentions changes the atmosphere in the country. The opposite of this is division and enmity, which are ruinous for Armenia,” Gagik Tsarukyan’s statement reads.
