In a conversation with journalists, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, expressed the hope that all domestic political processes in Armenia would be carried out in accordance with the law, and that the rights of all participants would be respected.
“I would not like to comment on the domestic political events in Armenia at the moment. There are very complex processes taking place there. One can only express the hope that everything that is happening will be carried out in strict accordance with the law and that the rights of all participants in the political process in the republic will be respected,” Peskov told reporters.
Earlier, Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, stated that Armenia’s opposition forces are seeking to bring in CSTO peacekeeping forces into the country, but this will not happen. The statement was made in parliament several hours after the detention of the second president and leader of the “Armenia” bloc, Robert Kocharyan.
