The main problem at the moment is attempts to restrict Robert Kocharyan’s activities: lawyer

Everyone connected to the President is aware of his health problems, and these problems are not such as to create any difficulties for his activities, provided there are no risk factors and adequate monitoring is ensured. This was stated by Aram Orbelyan, lawyer, speaking with journalists during a recess in the court session in the case of Robert Kocharyan, second President of the Republic of Armenia, regarding the President’s state of health and the conditions of his detention in the penitentiary institution.

According to the lawyer, Kocharyan has undergone several operations, including heart surgery. Immediately after surgery, there are certain risk factors, which he said are currently manageable.

“Right now, our problem is that during his stay in, so to speak, the closed conditions of the penitentiary institution, immediately after the operation there are certain risk factors, which at this point I believe are merely manageable. But that doesn’t mean everything is bad, or that everything is fine. One is not connected to the other,” the lawyer said.

According to him, the main problem at the moment is attempts to restrict President Kocharyan’s activities.

“The problem we are currently facing, and which we need to resolve now, is attempts to obstruct the President’s activities. I believe it is extremely important not to restrict his meetings with deputies,” Orbelyan said.
