“The moment we open the border with Turkey, we will have no agriculture left:” Samvel Karapetyan

Samvel Karapetyan, the Strong Armenia party’s candidate for prime minister, said at a press conference that the main goal right now is to build relations with all countries and organizations from which Armenia and the Armenian people can benefit.

“Country names are absolutely irrelevant. We will have very good relations even with Mozambique, if it is in our interest,” he said.

According to him, Armenia is obliged to maintain good relations with European countries, as the Armenian diaspora is based there.

“Any mistake in the behavior of a country’s leader comes at a very high cost to the diaspora. What is happening in Russia is an example of this. I consider Russia a friendly country, but the interests of Armenia and the Armenian people are what matter to me,” Karapetyan stressed.

On the subject of Armenian-Turkish relations, he was straightforward: “The moment we open the border with Turkey, we will have no agriculture left.”
