The state has intruded into the Church’s internal affairs: Ara Zohrabyan

Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, and the bishops are being accused merely for having exercised their canonical authority. This was stated to journalists by Ara Zohrabyan, the Patriarch’s lawyer.
According to him, the law enforcement and judicial system has overstepped its authority, which is prohibited under both domestic legislation and international law.

“The state, represented by the investigative bodies, the prosecutor’s office, and the court, has intruded into the Church’s internal affairs. Today we find ourselves in a shameful situation,” the lawyer noted.
