The “Mother Armenia” party is holding a protest rally outside the Supreme Judicial Council in support of the party’s arrested leader and member, Andranik Tevanyan and Aregnaz Manukyan.

“We have two demands. One is to hold an open trial, and if there is a so-called episode constituting a state secret, that one session or part of a session can be held behind closed doors. At the preliminary investigation stage, as well as in the case sent to court, the prosecution has already fallen apart. There was no collection, there were no $623,000 in receipts, it has all been refuted.

The second demand is to change the pretrial measure for Andranik Tevanyan and Aregnaz Manukyan so that it does not involve imprisonment. There are no longer any grounds to keep the case from proceeding to trial,” said Manuk Sukiasyan, a member of the party.

The first court hearing in Manukyan’s case will take place on September 8.
