Over the past eight years, Robert Kocharyan, the second President of Armenia, who has not retreated for a single second despite all political persecution, has proven through the path he has taken, and the Armenia faction has proven through its work over the past five years, that there can be no bargaining over national issues and issues related to statehood, Gegham Manukyan, an MP from the Armenia faction, said during parliamentary briefings.

Commenting on today’s statement by Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, that public pressure could be generated against the opposition if it opposes the process of adopting a new Constitution, the MP described it as “a statement about a coup d’état.”

“Under Armenian law, a vote held by pressuring members of the National Assembly cannot be legitimate. On national issues and issues concerning statehood, the opposition does not intend to make concessions or yield to pressure from the authorities,” Manukyan said.
