Three of four presidents of Artsakh are in a Baku prison, one in a Yerevan prison: Vardanyan

A month has passed since Robert Kocharyan, second President of Armenia, was unlawfully arrested for a fourth time, Kristine Vardanyan, deputy from the “Armenia” faction, said at a press conference on the case of the second President of the RA. She emphasized that such press conferences are meant to inform the public on the progress of the case and to present grounds that clearly show this arrest has nothing to do with legality and justice, and that it is nothing but revenge.

According to the deputy, Robert Kocharyan’s arrest is not driven by any demand from the people or the judiciary of Armenia. Vardanyan noted that, in her assessment, this process serves an external agenda.

“Last week it became clear that Azerbaijan has issued an international wanted notice, for instance, over what it claims was the illegal removal or theft of non-Armenian heritage from Dadivank. We ask the question: if Azerbaijan is so thorough, so consistent in trying to portray Armenia as the aggressor that committed war crimes, do you think that, in this context, when they demand the return of a khachkar from Armenia, they wouldn’t also demand that the president who won the war in Artsakh not remain free?” Vardanyan said.

The deputy also noted that three of the four presidents of Artsakh are being held in a prison in Baku, and one in a prison in Yerevan.
