Employees of the Ararat brandy-wine-vodka plant, owned by Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, are holding a protest rally outside the plant, demanding to be allowed to return to normal work.
According to the participants, the company’s operations were suspended a week ago, forcing them into downtime.
“Today about 10,000 people are left without work. We simply don’t understand what they’re thinking. Today we want a clear answer: when will we go back to work? Did Mr. Tsarukyan create so many jobs just for us to end up without work now? And after all this, they still talk about democracy. Where is this democracy?” one of the participants said.
