Today’s searches are a direct consequence of yesterday’s Strong Armenia bloc rally: Karen Kocharyan

Yesterday’s rally by the Strong Armenia bloc was the last straw that prompted the authorities to deploy their repressive apparatus. This was stated live on Alpha News by Karen Kocharyan, a political strategist, commenting on searches that took place on June 4 in Armenia.

“At the start of the election campaign, when the incumbent authorities were holding meetings in the regions, their mood was upbeat. However, the situation changed after campaigning began in Yerevan and major cities: both the public mood and the attitude of the authorities shifted,” the expert noted.

From that point on, Kocharyan noted, street detentions, pressure, and the creation of a climate of fear began.

“This intensified with each passing day, and yesterday’s large-scale rally was the last straw. That is precisely why the ruling party has launched mass searches today,” he stressed.
