The railway planned under the TRIPP project will run through an area used for rail transport in Soviet times, Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister, said during government question time in the National Assembly, sharing details of the project.
“The railway is about 42 kilometers long and runs along the Araks River valley. There is no private land in this area, as it passes through the border strip and border zones,” he said.
Turning to the road section, the deputy prime minister noted that its final route has not yet been determined. According to him, the road must meet the standards of infrastructure of regional significance.
“The road must be of equal quality, have the shortest possible length and suitable technical parameters, so that it does not serve as a weak alternative in the region. The connecting section on the Nakhchivan side is geographically very narrow, which is why additional technical assessments are needed,” Grigoryan said.
