Turkish Parliament Speaker calls for readiness against possible earthquake

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has emphasized the need to prepare for a potentially devastating earthquake, which is already “on the doorstep.”

“Our institutions, our nation, and all of us should be ready to overcome a possible earthquake with minimal losses,” Anadolu state agency quoted Numan Kurtulmuş as saying.

According to Istanbul’s mayor’s office, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 could result in the collapse of approximately 90,000 buildings and leave about 4.5 million citizens homeless.
