A two-day Armenian-Turkish business forum is underway in Yerevan. Vassilis Maragos, head of the EU delegation to Armenia, called the event “historic,” noting that the European Union supports contacts between the business communities and the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey.

“Peace and normalization in this region can benefit everyone. It means new jobs, new investment, stability and benefits for all,” he said.

Maragos called the forum “a very good signal for Brussels.”

According to him, the EU sees potential for cooperation between Armenia and Turkey in the electric power sector. The EU supports the North–South project and the development of regional connectivity. He noted that the EU allocated more than €200 million last year to support Armenia’s private sector.

The forum was organized by the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia.
