US State Department responds to Sergey Lavrov’s statement on Armenia

Many of Russia’s neighbors are concerned about threatening rhetoric and threatening actions that the Russian Government has shown against its neighbors, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a press briefing on Monday, commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement that Armenia is going towards the West and official Moscow will respond to Yerevan.

“I’m not going to respond directly to that question, although it’s the kind of – it’s the kind of rhetoric that we have seen the Russian Government make that is destabilizing to the region, and it’s why you’ve seen so many of Russia’s neighbors be concerned about threatening rhetoric and threatening actions that the Russian Government has shown over and over it is willing to take against its neighbors,” he said.
