US views South Caucasus as long-term focal point

The United States views the South Caucasus and the broader Caspian region as a focal point for its foreign policy.

“The broader Caspian region, including South Caucasus & Central Asia, is a long-term focal point for US foreign policy. It’s in our strategic interest to invest in and build on this region for many years to come,” said Caleb Orr, Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary and nominee for Assistant Secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Energy Affairs.
