Robert Kocharyan, the second president of Armenia and the Armenia alliance’s candidate for prime minister, said at a campaign rally in the city of Echmiadzin that he has followed every election but cannot recall one that turned into a fight over identity, the Church, and national values. He noted that nothing like this has ever happened in Armenia’s history, nor does he remember the central question of any election being war or peace, and that all of this has been brought about by the current authorities.

According to him, the authorities owe the people an answer for pitting Armenians against each other and distorting history.

“Today, war is the authorities’ main campaign promise. They have no other message. What’s more, by hosting the latest European Political Community summit in Armenia, inviting Zelensky here, and making provocative statements, they are trying to draw us into a new reckless venture,” Kocharyan said.
