We are the ones who allow Aliyev to do what he does – Arthur Martirosyan

If the goal of the Armenian government was to release our POWs, we would have seen completely different actions, Arthur Martirosyan, Senior Consultant with CMPartners and negotiation specialist, told Alpha News.

“The Armenian authorities do not need to do anything that Aliyev might not like or that might anger him. They want to show Ilham Aliyev that they will do everything to satisfy his demands, and he himself will tell Erdogan that it’s time to open the border. This is their goal. If their goal was to release our prisoners, we would have seen completely different actions,” he noted.

According to him, by exerting psychological pressure, the Azerbaijani president is doing everything possible to make Armenians forget about Artsakh.

“Aliyev wants to show Armenians that they should forget about Artsakh. He is trying to break people. Obstacles should never hinder a negotiator. We need to think about how to launch the process and deal with everything. If there was a desire, it would be possible to create external circles in a year that would put pressure on Aliyev. We allow Aliyev to do what he does. There are many countries where there are people who could influence Aliyev,” Arthur Martirosyan emphasized.
